PSYCHOTHERAPY SERVICES Individual, Family, and Couples Counselling CTA's psychotherapy services are strictly confidential, and are conducted in a relaxed, private environment. We offer Individual, Family, and Couples counselling. Brief Therapy - For Lasting Change Therapy does not have to last forever. It is possible to achieve the changes you want in a short-length of time, within a few counselling sessions. Clients who are ready to engage in a more focused process toward change, are likely to benefit from Brief Therapy, and the more pragmatic counselling approach that it offers. Our Clients and the Types of Problems Affecting them We work with families, children, adolescents, and couples who have been affected by a wide range of issues, encompassing a variety of problems. These problems range from mental health issues such as struggles with food (e.g. anorexia, bulimia), ADHD, ADD, sexual abuse, trauma, self-harm, anxiety, anger, schizophrenia and bi-polar disorder, through depression, and suicide, to involvement with the court system, and difficulties at school. How We Work - Therapeutic Orientation We have a strong belief that people are both the experts on their own lives, that they and have the internal resources to overcome the difficulties that they are facing. Consequently, we believe that people should have a say in the process of their treatment, and we therefore work from a strength-based, collaborative perspective, incorporating such therapeutic approaches as Narrative therapy and Brief Solution-focused therapy, which seek to utilize people's (often hidden) resources as catalysts for change. We have found that the most effective way of helping people with their problems is to talk about their strengths in non-judgemental ways; we seek to provide a friendly, welcoming and inviting atmosphere in which to do this. Session Length It is our belief that that the difficult nature of the problems that affect people sometimes makes it unrealistic to limit counselling sessions to an hour in length. We therefore try to tailor the length of our sessions to our clients' individual needs. However, if we have several clients booked in a row, we ask everyone to respect the hour-long time. Fees In an effort to be accountable to our clients and to provide some flexibility in working with them, we charge by the session, rather than charging an hourly rate. We believe that this policy is fair, and that it provides the best time-for-money value. Sessions typically take between 50 minutes and 1-½ hours, depending on the needs of those with whom we work. Please Contact Us for up-to-date fees, and for session booking schedules.
